NELLIGAN to Nationals!

An amazing season for Jonathan Nelligan was capped off by an appearance at the USATF Junior Olympic Nationals held in Hoover Alabama on December 11, 2010. Jon qualified for this race by finishing an amazing 8th place at the Region 1 meet in Rhode Island. The Elm City TC is truly proud of Jon for this accomplishment, finishing 123rd out of 270 runners at the nationals. A great experience for a talented runner with many more shots to come.

The Elm City TC would like to thank the support of the Keene community, especially Ted McGreer (Ted's Shoe and Sport), for making this dream possible for Jonathan. The Elm City is a great place to live!

Best wishes in 2011!

Family Fun Run Night #4: August 12th

Family Track Night #3, July 22nd

Hot and humid conditions must have kept people away last night, as we had the smallest turnout yet, but once again, the kids in attendance had fun and made great improvements. Just a reminder that our next Family Track Night will not be until August 12th, and our last night of the series will be August 19th. We would love to see more runners of all ages, so if Elm City TC members could pass the word along to friends of all ages, that would be greatly appreciated.

Family Track Night #2, July 15th

A great turnout for Week #2, especially the future stars of track & field. The youngsters turned up the heat as the adults were outnumbered at the track, and the races were all fun to watch. The race of the evening though was an unplanned Adult 100 meter dash, where the gauntlet was thrown down by Elm City T.C. friend Christian Battaglia. George Adams, Clint Joselin, and Scott Giza all accepted the challenge (a decision they most certainly regretted the next day), but Christian was too fast for the pacemakers and went on to post an easy win.

Week #3 is scheduled for July 22nd, and then we are off until August 12th & August 19th.

Attention Families: Our family fun runs are scheduled for 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 8/5, 8/19 from 6:30-8:00. This year, because of the rental of the KHS track facility, we are charging $1.00 per person for non-members of the Elm City Track Club. We would like to continue our tradition of donating a canned good each week to the Keene Community Kitchen. If you are interested in becoming a Elm City T.C. member, please see Erik Kress for information and an application.

* If it's raining, we probably will not meet. Call 357-8755 before 5:30 if you are unsure.

Attention Elm City T.C. Elite Members: Join us this summer for workout Wednesdays! We will meet at 4:00 at the KHS track, warm-up, stretch, do some drills, and run some fast intervals.

*The Saturday shout out goes to the Keene High Track athletes that qualified and competed in the New England Championships at Burlington High-School in Vermont last Saturday, 6/13. Nate Simmons, Sam Kent, Mason Mann, Kelcey Smith, Jeremy Hill, and Chloe Maleski did a fine job representing the Keene High track team. We look forward to bright futures from all of you!!
